The Interior Decorator
Summary: Interior decorators vs. interior landscapers. Don't be intimidated by the interior decorator.
Written by: Judy Feldstein

Interior decorators are trained to know what looks good where. Interior landscapers are trained to know what grows best where. And so the battle lines are drawn. Don’t allow yourself to be intimidated into putting an expensive tree into an area where there is not enough light for it to survive just because the decorator thinks it will look perfect in that particular location. It is one thing to have a $20 plant die, but a totally different situation when we are talking about a $300 tree. Take the time to check out the requirements of the plants the decorator suggests before automatically installing them. If you need advice about what plant to put where or if you think one of your plants is suffering from a lighting problem, contact me: judy@foliageunlimited.net.

If you already have the plant please include: name of the plant, size of the plant (height & size of pot it is planted in), lighting source in the room, where the plant is located in relation to the light source, and why you think the plant is having a problem. If you are thinking about buying a new plant, please tell me whether you want a table plant, a hanging plant, a flowering plant, a floor plant (short & bushy or tall & slender) or a tree. How tall or wide should the plant be. Let me know how good your light is. Do you have any windows, how many & which direction do they face? Working together we can find the perfect plant for you.
