What Size Is The Flower Pot?
Summary: The size of the pot can affect how the plant grows, and watering needs.
Written by: Judy Feldstein

Plants in small pots dry out faster than plants in large pots. Large plants in small pots dry out even faster than small plants in small pots. I know I must sound like Dr. Seuss, and it seems obvious, but I know people who give all size pots the same amount of water.

You should, if at all possible, always leave your plant in its grower’s pot and never plant it directly into a decorative pot. This will help prevent over watering caused by repotting a plant into a container that is too big for it’s roots. When a container is too big, the soil never has a chance to dry out and the roots eventually develop root rot.
